Donie Shine scored a goal for Roscommon, but it wasn't enough

Cavan, Antrim, Louth and Offaly all got their National Football League Division 3 campaigns off to a winning start today.

Cavan laid down an early season marker with a very impressive 2-20 to 1-10 victory over Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park.

Roscommon started brightly enough, with Donie Shine finding the net for them after 18 minutes, to help Fergal O'Donnell's men go into the break level on 1-06 0-09, however after that it was all Cavan.

Eoin McGuigan and Cian Mackey both netted for Cavan as they turned on the style and cruised to a double figures victory.

In Tullamore, Offaly overcame a spirited Fermanagh challenge, running out 1-13 0-10 winners.

Fermanagh looked good early on and Daryl Keenan claimed their goal but when Marty O'Brien was sent off just before the break, it gave Offaly all the incentive they needed to go on and win.

Louth maintained their fine start to the year with a 0-13 to 1-8 win over Wexford in Drogheda, while Antrim proved to be too strong for Sligo, running out 1-12 to 0-14 winners at Casement Park.
