Brendan Donaghy has been named captain of Armagh for the upcoming Dr McKenna Cup by new manager Paddy O'Rourke.

Donaghy will assume the role while regular captain Ciaran McKeever continues his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury picked up in last month's Inter-provincial final while playing for Ulster.

McKeever, Martin O'Rourke, Stephen Kernan and Paul Courtney have all been left out of the Orchard County's McKenna Cup squad while they recover from injuries.

However, former underage star Kevin Dyas is included after his return from Australia, while other ex-minor players rewarded with a senior call include Martin Ferris, Colm Watters, Joe Feeney, Paul Magee, Jason O'Neill and Adrian Conlon.

Armagh begin their McKenna Cup campaign against Fermanagh at Crossmaglen on 10 January.
