Tyrone and Donegal to oppose GPA plans
There is growing opposition to the recent GAA-GPA agreement ahead of this weekend's Central Council meeting which will ultimately decide if the deal will be carried forward to next year's congress.
Tyrone and Donegal are leading the campaign against the agreement, and although Kerry, Dublin and Wicklow are backing the proposals, and there is expected to be significant lobbying ahead of Saturday's meeting by the 'anti' campaign.
Tyrone chairman Pat Darcy confirmed at a County Board meeting: 'If the GPA wants to become a part of the association, then they can affiliate like any other unit.'
During the meeting, Tyrone's Central Council delegate Brendan Harkin was advised to vote against the proposals, while his Donegal counterpart Brian McEniff has also been advised to oppose the plans.
