McCann turns down Richmond offer
Thomas McCann has turned down a one-year contract offer from AFL club Richmond Tigers.
The Antrim starlet was hoping to secure a two-year international rookie contract and feels the reduced terms of the one-year deal don't make the move worthwhile.
McCann told The Star: 'They were looking to keep me on for the year and practice skills and sign on next year.
'It's not the same sort of money (compared to an International Rookie contract). I wasn't going to stay unless I could live comfortably for the first couple of years.
'They said I could practice the skills and stuff, but I thought there was no point. I'd rather come home and play GAA. Next year I don't know if I'll do it. I'll take the year to think about it.'
AFL agent Ricky Nixon says the club will look at him again next year.
