Clare chairman backs Mike McNamara
Clare County Board Chairman Michael O'Neill has said he sees the situation that has developed between the Clare County Board and manager Mike McNamara as an internal problem that is unlikely to end in a strike.
He told the Clare Champion: 'I don't see this as being similar to any other situation in the country. It's an internal problem that we have in Clare at the minute,.
Asked to comment on the possibility of a strike similar to that in Cork, he added: 'That would be hypothetical. There certainly is no fear in my mind of that happening.'
Despite the fact that the Clare panel has sent a letter signed by 26 players to the Board, following their refusal to take account of an unsigned letter, O'Neill added that nothing had changed and that the still expects McNamara to complete his two-year term.
