Laois officials step down

Two Laois GAA officials have resigned from the executive board follow last month's revelation that €42,000 of the county finances was unaccounted for.

Leinster Council delegate and former county chairman Dick Miller and vice-chairman and former treasurer Tony Walsh stepped down at a county board meeting on Tuesday night. Auditor Mark Kirwan has also stepped down.

Financial records going back as far as 2002 showed unaccounted for ticket sales, with €42,000 of finances missing up to the end of 2004, with the deficit being written off in 2005 and '08.

The Laois board has launched an investigation into the matter.
