Limerick manager Justin McCarthy insists he is committed to the county despite their defeat against Tipperary in the All-Ireland hurling semi-final.

McCarthy has a further year on his contract with Limerick and is eager to fulfil his deal.

'Hopefully yes, I said I'd be around for two years,' McCarthy said when questioned on his future.

'I've enjoyed every moment of it so far. I can see the bigger picture, there's no lying down and saying we can't go on. There's a great interest in hurling in Limerick, but we need some things in place. It'll take time.

'I've said that all along. Limerick are in transition to a point. But when you're playing big games, you always think you've a chance but realistically there has to be a lot of building. To win a trophy would be outstanding. That's the first thing.'
