Murphy could be in line for homecoming
Former Carlow minor star Brendan Murphy believes his time in Australia Rules could come to a premature end unless he can prove his worth within the next three months.
Murphy has been provisionally offered a contract extension by the Sydney Swans, despite having spent most of his time Down Under on the treatment table.
'I'm disappointed that I haven't made my senior debut yet, although I know I've had a few injuries in my time over here, that's no excuse really,' the 20-year-old said.
'When I was fit, and up and running, I really should have made more of my chances. I honesty thought I would have played a game by now. I've got three months left so time is running out for me.
'The time remaining will determine whether I'm back playing Gaelic football next year or not. The club could change their minds about offering me an extended contract next year.
'They could let me go to bring in another young player.'
Rathvilly clubman Murphy left for the southern hemisphere in 2007 after leading his native county to a rare Leinster final appearance where they lost to Laois.
