Kilkenny were simply awesome in destroying Tipperary by 17 points iin this Allianz NFL Division One clash played in front of 9,000 people at Nowlan Park.
Martin Comerford scored 3-02 as the Cats ran riot in a game that was effectively over after 20 minutes with the scoreboard reading 2-05 to 0-02 in favour of Brian Cody's highly motivated charges.
Indeed, Comerford's first goal came after only two minutes, with Aidan Fogarty popping up a few minutes later to smash the ball past the helpless Brendan Cummins. TJ Reid also got in on the act after 29 minutes, and with Comerford stealing in for two more goals before the break, the Premier county were 5-09 to 0-04 in arrears at half-time.
Liam Sheedy's shell-shocked side raised something of an effort on the restart with points from Seamus Hennessy and Seamus Callanan making some dent in the Kilkenny lead. Michael Webster showed great tenacity to engineer a Tipperary goal after 57 minutes to leave 17 points between the sides.
However, the match was now akin to a training session for the victors as Michael Grace and Richie Hogan added to their respective points tally.
PJ Ryan made way for David Heraty in the Kilkenny goal and the latter brilliantly deflected a John O'Brien over the bar for a point as Tipperary strove to put respectability on the scoreboard.
However, this was a masterclass from Kilkenny, with Martin Comerford completing the scoring with an excellent long range point in the final minute.
