Walsh set for Aussie Rules trials
The Kerry football team could be handed a major blow for next season after the news that Tommy Walsh is to have a trial with AFL outfit St Kilda.
Jack O'Connor was yesterday confirmed as the new manager of The Kingdom but is already facing his first mini-crisis after it was confirmed that the Young Football Player of the Year will travel to Australia.
Walsh, who will start for Kerins O'Rahilly's in Sunday's Kerry SFC final, is set to train with the Melbourne side for two weeks in an effort to land a contract with the club.
Player manager Ricky Nixon is behind the move after convincing Walsh to turn his hand to Aussie Rules and said: 'It probably won't make people in Ireland too happy, but he's coming out.
'I can't tell you if he'll want to play or stay or if he'll be good enough but he's definitely one of the best talents that I've seen,' he told Melbourne's SEN radio.
