Cork players issue statement
The Cork senior hurling team have issued a hard hitting statement through Thursday's Irish Examiner.
The players have challenged comments made by manager Gerald McCarthy and the County Board and they wanted to set the record straight.
The players claim that there is a vendetta against them and they were concerned that attempts were being made to mislead the Cork public.
The panel insist they do not want the right to pick the manager, they have defended their right to play a part in the management selection process but added McCarthy's reappointment was not legitimate.
The squad have accused McCarthy of leaking confidential documents that were drawn up between the players and management to the media.
