Aileen Lawlor named as Camogie President Elect

Aileen Lawlor has been voted in as the President Elect of the Camogie Association at Annual Camogie Congress in Belfast.

Lawlor will take up the role as President of the Camogie Association in March 2012 succeeding Joan O'Flynn.

Lawlor, a former inter-county referee and vice-chair of Westmeath County Camogie Board defeated Catherine O'Hara of Antrim the out-going chair of Ulster Camogie Council.

'I am delighted to take up the position as President Elect of the Camogie Association. It is a fantastic honour and a great privilege,' said Lawlor.

'During my tenure, I will work with others to continue to raise the profile of the Camogie Association and I would also like to focus attention on efforts to increase the number of female referees in the Association.'
