Galway are the 2009 Gala Intermediate All-Ireland camogie champions after defeating Cork in Saturday's replay.
From the outset, Galway were intent of putting the disappointment of the drawn final behind them after they let a four point lead slip at the death a few weeks ago in the Gaelic Grounds.
This time at McDonagh Park, Nenagh they showed little respect to the opposition going in at the break, with a 1-6 to 1-2 advantage.
A Laura Mitchell goal on 24 minutes put them into a commanding lead, but Cork duly responded straight from the puck-out when Emer Watson fired past Deirdre Ward.
But the Maroon attack were not to be outdone and came out with all guns blazing in the second half.
Further goals from Aoife Lynskey and Caroline Murray on 36 and 43 minutes put the game well beyond Cork’s reach, sending the McGrath Cup west.
