Former Antrim, Carlow and Waterford boss has been named a the new manager of the Tyrone senior hurlers on an interim basis.

Ryan steps in following the departure of Dominic Kearns who left the post earlier this month, just a few weeks into his tenure.

The Tyrone board have acted swiftly to fill the position ahead of the county's Allianz League Division 3A campaign which begins on 14 February.

As manager of Antrim, Kevin Ryan did oversee the county's appearance in an All-Ireland U-21 final in 2014, but last season brought much disappointment for the Saffron seniors following relegation to Division 2A and the loss of their Liam MacCarthy Cup status.
