There were wins for the senior footballers of Cork and Clare in the McGrath Cup first round on Sunday.

The Banner came from behind late on to beat Tipperary 1-10 to 1-09 in Miltown Malbay.

They trailed by five at the break and needed a last-gasp Kieran Malone goal to secure the narrowest of wins.

Star forward David Tubridy started on the bench and his introduction made a difference as Clare fought their way back into this Group A game.

Cork took the lead over Limerick early on in their Group B clash at Mallow, with Kevin O’Driscoll getting the goal after 13 minutes to set them on their way to a 1-5 to 0-7 halt-time lead.

Limerick made a real game of it though as this one went right down to the wire, the Rebels coming out on top 1-10 to 0-12.
