The GAA/GPA All-Stars sponsored by Opel have announced that Aidan O’Shea (Mayo) and Tony Kelly (Clare) as the Players of the Month for August, in football and hurling respectively.

Both selections were chosen by the inter-county playing body, presented in recognition of the players’ outstanding contributions to their counties last month.

Aidan O'Shea grabbed headlines with his outstanding man of the match performance in his county’s quarter-final win over Donegal. The towering midfielder also excelled in his team’s semi-final win over Tyrone.

Up and coming Clare star Tony Kelly inspired his team to victory over Limerick, as the Banner County booked their first All-Ireland SHC final date since 2002. The Ballyea man finished with four from play as his side ran out 1-22 to 0-18 winners against their Munster rivals in Croke Park.
