Kerry clubs against payments to managers
Updated: Tuesday, 21 Feb 2012 12:37
Kerry clubs are not in favour of payments to managers. That's the clear message that came from a recent meeting of the Kerry County Board.
Chairman Patrick O'Sullivan told delegates at Monday's meeting, which was attended by 27 chairmen from the county's clubs, that the Kerry Board would be informing Croke Park that it was against payments to managers.
A statement released by the Board said: "We had a meeting with the clubs regarding the payment to managers discussion document and 27 chairmen showed up.
"The feedback we got from the meeting is that Kerry clubs are not in favour of paying managers and we will be sending our deliberations to Croke Park as requested by 24 February with some extra points added on to show that we are not completely negative on the subject.
"...we are in favour of option two, which basically states 'the GAA should exercise all its power to enforce its amateur status. A vigilant registration and audit board would be formed to oversee the payments of fees and expenses to inter-county teams and managers.'"
