TV3 has reported that officials from five county boards have admitted that they have made payments in the past to senior managers that break GAA regulations.
According to a report screened on the channel, five county boards admitted to paying senior managers despite GAA rules against such remuneration.
It was also alleged in the report that two further counties stated that they would allow a third party to give a donation to their manager.
Thirty-two officials were questioned in the investigation, with 21 of the 32 holding the belief that illegal payments to managers are ongoing in some counties.
Twenty-one of those questioned also believe that at club level managers are being paid in excess of GAA allowance rules. Two of those questioned said that their respective county boards had plans to deal with this practice.
The report went on to say that 17 of the 32 GAA officials questioned were adamant these unofficial payments could be stamped out.
TV3 stated that the GAA declined to comment on the station’s findings.
