Murphy: GAA players are 'essential assets'
Updated: Wednesday, 24 Feb 2010 15:36
The secretary of the GAA's Ulster Council Danny Murphy has called for a greater recognition of players, who he described as ‘our most essential assets’.
In his report to the annual convention, Murphy said the GAA had been disunited over the position of players and particularly inter-county players.
He expressed hope that the agreement between the GAA and the Gaelic Players’ Association was the beginning of a better way forward.
He also said the verbal abuse, and public criticism of referees, was inhibiting the development of refereeing.
