McGrath replaces Brogan in Ireland squad
Thursday, 16 October 2008Ireland's International Rules manager Sean Boylan has confirmed that Fermanagh's Marty McGrath has been called up to the squad to replace Bernard Brogan of Dublin who is unable to travel.
McGrath is the second player to be introduced to the squad in the last two days after Kerry's Tommy Walsh withdrew yesterday and was replaced by Paul Finlay of Monaghan.
Both Walsh and Brogan have club commitments, with Walsh's side Kerins O'Rahillys due to face South Kerry in a senior semi-final down in the Kingdom on Sunday week and Brogan's St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh gearing up to take on the winners of Kilmacud Crokes and St Vincent's in next Thursday's Dublin SFC final.
McGrath played an integral role in Fermanagh's run to the Ulster final this summer where they were eventually beaten by Armagh after a replay.
The 28-year-old midfielder's excellent performances landed him the Ulster Player of the Year award and a place on the Ulster All-Stars team.
