Round-up of NFL Division 4
Sunday, 20 April 2008 19:38TIPPERARY 0-12 WICKLOW 0-10, Ardfinnan
Brian Coen kicked ten points as 14-man Tipperary claimed a spot in next weekend's Division 4 final, following this slender win over Wicklow at Ardfinnan.
The dismissal of Barry Grogan failed to halt the form of an impressive home side, with John Evans' men holding a 0-09 to 0-04 interval lead.
Coen and Niall Fitzgerald gave impressive performances as Antrim's loss to Waterford, coupled with this win, saw Tipperary leapfrog over the Saffrons and into a decider against neighbours Offaly.
ANTRIM 0-08 WATERFORD 1-08, Casement Park
Maurice O'Gorman's 51st-minute goal denied Antrim a place in the NFL Division 4 final as Waterford recorded a shock three-point win at Casement Park.
A draw would have been enough to secure promotion for Antrim but Waterford battled to their fifth league win.
Antrim only led by the minimum at the interval - 0-05 to 0-04 - with Paddy Cunningham kicking four points.
However, O'Gorman's goal, along with an eye-catching display by Connie Power, left Saffrons manager Jody Gormley dejected at the final whistle.
LONDON 1-12 CLARE 2-13, Ruislip
Goals in either half from Michael O'Shea and Stephen Hickey ensured the long journey to Ruislip was a fruitful one for Clare.
Clare led by 1-06 to 0-01 after 18 minutes but a Paul Hehir goal inspired a London comeback and they trailed by six points at half-time.
Although London cut the gap to two points after the interval, Clare stood firm. Hickey's goal helped Frank Doherty's charges on their way, along with some fine defending from the Banner's rearguard.
CARLOW 2-15 KILKENNY 3-04, Dr Cullen Park
Carlow collected their fourth league win at Dr Cullen Park on Saturday but they left it late to see off second-from-bottom Kilkenny.
Paul Bealin's men were made to work hard for this victory, particularly as goals either side of half-time from Kilkenny dual player Eddie Brennan and John Maher put just a point between the sides.
Brennan had tucked away a first half penalty but a two-goal blast in the second half from Eric McCormack were the decisive scores for Carlow.
