Armagh v Cork

Although it looks a tasty battle on paper, these two counties' anodyne positions in the table mean that there is nothing major to play for on Sunday, except for places ahead of the Championship, of course.

Both recorded notable wins in their last games, with Cork ending Monaghan's unbeaten run and Armagh inflicting a first league defeat of the season on Dublin.

It was expected that the Rebels would name an experimental side for this clash in Crossmaglen, but after seeing how a fresh-faced Dubs' outfit capitulated up there last Sunday, Con Counihan may re-think his position.

The selection of too many lambs could lead to a slaughter.

Of course, it emerged after the game with the Dubs that Armagh had taken motivation from comments by Meath manager Colm Coyle, and so the Orchard men may not be quite as fired up this weekend.

Martin O'Rourke was the only starting forward not to get on the scoresheet for Peter McDonnell's men last week, and anything close to the 3-13 tally they ran up would more than likely secure the points again this time out.

Having forfeited their opening two games as a result of their strike, Cork have done extremely well to copper-fasten their Division 2 status with a game to spare.

Their last visit to Ulster saw them fall to Cavan by a point, and a similarly narrow defeat would be an achievement of sorts given the circumstances.

Verdict: Armagh
