Caffrey insists Dubs are not dirty
Wednesday, 16 April 2008 10:09Dublin manager Paul Caffrey has defended Dublin's disciplinary record, after Alan Brogan became the latest Dub to be sent off when he received his marching orders against Armagh at the weekend.
That red card leaves Brogan facing four-weeks on the sidelines, while Mark Vaughan and Bryan Cullen were both sent off in a recent game with Monaghan.
Ray Boyne, a member of the Dublin backroom staff, was also hit with a four-month ban stemming from a headbutting incident in the Monaghan encounter.
However, Caffrey insists that there is now disciplinary problem with Dublin and said: 'If you look at the guys who have received reds, they are not you typical competitive players.
'Anyone that knows football knows that Alan Brogan does not go out looking for trouble on a football field.
'Mark Vaughan, that was a clumsy tackle. It was a second yellow. Second yellows can happen to any player at any stage so I wouldn't be overindulging in terms of trying to set out Mark Vaughan and Alan Brogan to be hard men,' he insisted.
'Bryan Cullen's record at club and county level is exemplary so, no, I don't think that will stand up going forward.'
