GAA · Hurling Championship 2007

Saturday's Championship overview

There were four massive games down for decision today, as the Football and Hurling Championships enter the business end of the season.

First up, Wexford advanced to the Guinness All-Ireland SHC semi-finals with a stunning 3-10 to 1-14 victory over Tipperary at Croke Park.

In today's second SHC quarter-final, defending champions Kilkenny produced a superb second half to emerge 3-22 to 1-18 winners over Galway, to ensure a second meeting with Wexford in the last four next week.

It was a good night for two Ulster sides in the SFC Qualifier Round 3, as both Derry and Monaghan secured quarter-final places.

The Oak Leafers survived a late comeback bid from Laois to emerge 1-18 to 2-11 winners at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Monaghan faced fellow northerners Donegal at Healy Park, Omagh. The Farney turned in an impressive performance, with Vincent Corey, Thomas Freeman and Gary McQuaid particularly impressive, to run out 2-12 to 1-07 winners.
