Moorefield win first Leinster title

Moorefield of Kildare sprung a shock in the Leinster SFC Club final, beating Offaly's Rhode by 3-06 to 0-08 in wet conditions at Portlaoise.

Rhode took the early lead but two Ronan Sweeney penalties put Moorefield into the lead at half-time by 2-2 to 0-06.

The Newbridge side improved their lead in the second half as David White lobbed the Rhode 'keeper Colm Masteron to give his side a five-point lead.

In the remaining time Rhode were unable to make any inroads into the Moorefield lead and lost out by seven points.
