The first competition in the European Show Jumping Championships starts on Wednesday afternoon in Madrid, Spain, and the Irish team has been declared by Robert Splaine, Team Ireland equestrian's show jumping manager.
Ireland have been drawn to jump fifth of 16 teams and will line out in the following order for Wednesday's speed class: Shane Sweetnam and Amaretto Darco; Nicola FitzGibbon and Puissance; Denis Lynch and Lantinus; Billy Twomey and Tinka’s Serenade.
There are three days of competition which count towards the team placings, and to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, Ireland must finish in the top three of teams not already qualified.
Qualified teams are Britain (host nation), Germany, Belgium and France.
A total of 22 nations will take part in both the individual and the team competitions.
The team competition ends on Friday evening, and the top 25 riders then go through to the individual finals on Sunday.
