Tipperary’s Shane Breen took the runner-up prize in the Falsterbo Derby, conceding first place to France's Patrice Delaveau and Ornella Mail.
Delaveau and Breen, riding the Irish-bred Mullaghdrin Gold Rain, were the only two combinations to make it to the jump-off from a starting field of 18, and the Irish rider, assured of a second place, decided to retire in the second round.
In the earlier Grand Prix Qualifier another Tipperary-born rider, Denis Lynch, brought out his Nations' Cup gelding Lord Luis and finished third, with Swedish star Malin Baryard-Johnsson claiming the trophy with H&M Reveur De Hurtebise.
