Following a decision by the Executive Committee of Showjumping Ireland last night, the decision was taken that there would be no National Horse Championships in 2011.

With the Time frame required to organise the National Horse Championships and the impact which this may have on existing Shows, the Committee felt that this decision was in the best interests of the Association at this late stage.

It is hoped that plans for the 2012 National Horse Championships will be made in late October/early November and a formal announcement will be made on this at that time.

Showjumping Ireland Chairman Christy Murphy commented: 'Obviously it is disappointing that there will not be a National Championships this year, but in the interests of the Association we felt that this was the right decision as there is simply not enough time at this late stage to put all the plans in place
to organise what is the flagship event for our Association.'
