Twomey places third at Dresden show

Cork's Billy Twomey kept up the Irish pressure at Dresden's three-star show in Germany tonight (Saturday) with a third place in the Grand Prix Qualifier.

With fellow Irish rider Shane Carey having already taken a third place and a win on Friday, 32-year-old Twomey kept the flag flying on Sue Davies's eight year-old bay gelding 'Blue Thunder' with tonight's result in the two-round Dresden Championship.

The competition, which was the second Grand Prix Qualifier of the
show, saw Britain's Ellen Whitaker claim the €6,600 winner's prize
with the 13-year-old Habsburg chestnut gelding 'Equimax Ocolado'.

Dresden's Grand Prix takes place on Sunday afternoon.
