Kurten claims top prize in Qatar

Jessica Kurten repeated her Wednesday night triumph at Doha with another €16,000 win on Castle Forbes Cosma in the Qatar capital on Thursday night.

Hours before she was due to compete in the first qualifying competition of the Global Champions' Tour Final, the 39-year-old brought out the chestnut mare for a scorching finish in the six-horse jump-off, once again denying Dutch rider Albert Zoer top spot, this time shading him by a clear second.

Ireland's Denis Lynch was one of the combinations through to the final round with Nabab's Son but finished sixth after dropping a single pole on the ground.

Both riders will hope to finish in the top 18 in the Global Champions Tour competition so that they can compete for the €300,000 first prize in Saturday's 2009 Tour Final.
