Ireland team finish fourth in Netherlands

Four double clear rounds in show jumping this Sunday put
Ireland in fourth place at the end of the three-star event in Boekelo in the Netherlands.

Struggling up from eighth after the dressage phase, the Irish quartet
of Camilla Speirs, Michael Ryan, Aoife Sisk and Elizabeth Power
powered through Saturday's cross-country course to leap four places in
the leaderboard, and Sunday's fault-free show jumping kept them in the
same position at the finish.

The Irish team, three riding young Irish-bred horses, put in a
convincing performance at the prestige show, which featured ten
international teams.

Camilla Speirs and the eight year-old Portersize Just a Jiff
finished best of the Irish in 14th place. Next came Cork's Michael
Ryan with another eight-year-old, the gelding Ballylynch Adventure,
in 27th. Eight-year-old Master Crusoe ridden by Aoife Sisk finished
in 36th place, while an unlucky cross-country phase relegated
Elizabeth Power and September Bliss to 52nd overall.

The three-day event was won by early leaders Germany on a total of
153.20 penalties. Ireland's finishing score was 197.60.
