Allen takes show jumping gold

In an unprecedented weekend, Ireland scooped three medals at the European pony championships in Moorsele, Belgium - with 16-year-old Kellie Allen winning the Gold Medal in individual show jumping.

Allen, from Kells in Co Meath, rode Anthony McCormick's seven-year-old Connemara pony 'Ballyowen Maybell Molly' and secured the Gold after a jump-off against Denmark's Christiane Tetzlaff, who was riding another Irish-bred pony, 'Murphy's Flight'.

Allen accumulated just four jumping faults over the entire weekend of competitions.

Emma O'Dwyer and 'Edna' were fourth in the individual finals today, while Michael Duffy and 'Silogue Darkie' finished in equal seventh place.

Earlier today Tipperary's Joseph O'Brien took the individual bronze
medal in eventing with 'Ice Cool Bailey', while on Sunday the pony
show jumping team won the European silver medal at Moorsele.
