Nicolas Roche (Team Saxo-Tinkoff) has finished fifth in the San Sebastian Classic today, which was won by Tony Gallopin (RadioShack-Leopard) of France.

Gallopin won the race when he escaped the lead group on the final climb up the the Alto de Arkale, before soloing to victory ahead of Spain's Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) and Czech Roman Kreuziger (Team Saxo-Tinkoff).

Roche had been one of the lead pursuers of Gallopin as the chasing group attempted to reel in the Frenchman.

Roche also led out team-mate Kreuziger in the sprint for second, but the Czech was beaten to the line by Valverde, with Mikel Nieve also crossing ahead of the Irishman.
