Roche signs new deal with AG2R

Ireland's Nicolas Roche has signed a new deal with French cycling team AG2R-La-Mondiale, following a successful display in the Tour de France.

The new contract will see Roche represent AG2R up until the end of 2012 and comes on the back of speculation linking him with a transfer to Team Sky.

Roche was the best performer for AG2R at the Tour de France, finishing in 15th place overall, 16:59 behind eventual winner Alberto Contador.

His display at the Tour de France has also seen the Irish cyclist breaking into the top 50 in the UCI world rankings, where he is now in 49th place.
