Ireland beat Canada at Clontarf

Ireland made it two wins out of two in their important World Cup qualifier against Canada following up Monday's 133-run victory with a 57-run win at a cool and windy Clontarf.
Ireland won the toss and decided to bat and made 249 off their 50 overs, with captain William Porterfield top scoring on 53, while Kevin O’Brien chipped in with a valuable contribution of 43 from 36 deliveries.
Canada started well in reply and were well up on the run rate on 82 for two when Porterfield brilliantly ran out opener Nietshe Kumar for 30.
That and two other run-outs from sharp Irish fielding stemmed the flow of Canadian runs, while a fine bowling display by George Dockrell - who took two for 27 off his 10 overs - helped Ireland to victory as Canada fell to 193 all out.
Today’s game was the last game of the 2011 season for Ireland and they now have four wins out of four in the World Cup qualifiers after a pair of wins over Namibia and Canada.
Stiffer opposition awaits over the course of the next year, with the likes of Afghanistan and Scotland on the horizon before qualification process for the 2015 World Cup in Australia comes to an end.
