Ireland will take on England in a One Day International in Clontarf, Dublin on Thursday, 25 August, 2011.

Ireland will be looking to avenge a three-run defeat when the sides last met on Irish soil in Belfast in 2009.

The game will be hosted at Clontarf Cricket Club.

Announcing the challenge match, Warren Deutrom, CEO Cricket Ireland said: ‘Our matches against England are always special. We look forward to hosting household names including Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Graham Swann and not forgetting Eoin Morgan.

‘We know that the progress we continue to make on the world stage means that we go into this game confident of taking the scalp of England to atone for the agonising 3 run defeat from our last encounter.’

Ireland will meet England before that in the forthcoming World Cup in February and March, 2011. The tournament will evoke memories of Ireland triumphs in previous World Cups and the side will look to cement their place amongst the top 10 nations in the World with further wins over Test nations.

The 2011 RSA Challenge is the latest in a series of top class International cricket in Ireland. Past RSA Challenges have included games against England, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other leading nations for both the men’s and women’s teams.
