Cricket Ireland are hoping to tempt Sussex batsman Ed Joyce back to Irish international cricket and hope to have him as part of their 2011 One Day International World Cup.

Dubliner Joyce, who had previously played for Ireland, opted to line out for England in 2005, qualifying by virtue of his residency there.

However, he has since fallen down the pecking order in the English team and is now believed to be eager to return to action with Ireland.

Joyce will need to announce his decision ahead of next winter's 50-over event so that Ireland can lobby for a fast-track of his eligibility.

'We have been in discussions with Ed to repatriate him to Ireland,' Ireland chief Warren Deutrom told the Daily Mail.

'It's a decision he won’t take lightly.'
