Ireland's Michaela Walsh and Joanne Lambe are both just one victory away from a medal at the European Women's Boxing Championships in Bucharest.

Walsh won her last-16 bout in the bantamweight (54kg) division against Ivanna Krupenia of Ukraine on a split decision to progress to the quarter-finals tomorrow.

Lambe is also through to the last eight in the featherweight (57kg) category after victory on a split decision over her Croatian opponent Petric Marija. 

Earlier, Ceire Smyth was beaten in her flyweight (51kg) contest on a split decision by Turkey's Nur Caskun.
