The Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) have confirmed that Fergal Carruth has been appointed as their chief executive officer.

Dublin-born Carruth, a brother of 1992 Olympic champion Michael, was appointed following an extensive interview process.

The IABA board of directors confirmed today’s appointment.

Mr Carruth, a company secretary with IABA Limited, replaces Don Stewart who has retired.

Commentating on his appointment, Carruth, a former Irish intermediate lightweight champion, and Irish international boxer out of Drimnagh BC in Dublin, said he was looking forward to working with everyone involved with Irish boxing to ensure the future success of the sport in Ireland.
