Edinburgh fighter Stephen Simmons beat Mayo's Michael Sweeney for the vacant Celtic cruiserweight belt at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow tonight.

Simmons had Sweeney down at the end of first round with a glancing blow but he survived.

However, Sweeney failed to come out his corner for the start of the fourth round after sustaining an injury, which meant Simmons extended his record to 8-0 and inflicted a third defeat on the Ballinrobe man.
