Ireland head coach Billy Walsh has confirmed that current European light-welterweight champion Ray Moylette is out of the weekend’s double header of Elite internationals with France in Cork and Dublin after picking up a neck injury.

Moylette, who boxes out of the St Anne’s BC in Westport, has been replaced by Waterford’s Rohan Date for Friday’s match with the French at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork, and Kildare’s David Oliver Joyce for Sunday’s second leg at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Moylette picked up the injury in training this week.

Billy Walsh admitted that the injury was a worry ahead of the opening bell for the 2013 European Elite Championships in Minsk, Belarus on 1 June.

Ireland will have their final training camp for the European Championships in Kiev, Ukraine later this month and will travel straight from the Ukrainian capital to Minsk.
