WBO International Middleweight champion Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan has been forced to withdraw from his planned bout with Farai Musiyiwa on Friday.

O'Sullivan was due to face the Zimbabwe fighter at Neptune Stadium in Cork, but has had to postpone the bout because of a rib injury he picked up in training.

A statement from the fight promoter read: "Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan sustained an injury to his ribs during a sparring session last week and it has worsened since then, making a fight on Saturday night impossible to proceed with.

"Broken ribs have been ruled out but tests are expected to confirm damage to the soft connective tissue between the ribs that will require rest for healing.

"Gary is obviously very disappointed that the fight cannot go ahead as planned but he is looking forward to being back to full strength in a few weeks and to putting on a show for his faithful Cork fanbase."
