Lee has impressive win in Germany

Andy Lee - Irish Middleweight prospect - chalked up another decisive win on the undercard of the Waldimir Klitschko v Ruslan Chagaev, world heavyweight clash on Saturday, in the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Lee shared the ring with the durable and strong Olegs Fedotovs from Lativia, who carried a record of 10 W(6KO) 5L(1KO) before the fight.

Lee took charge of the fight from the opening bell off-loading sharp crisp punches and troubled the Latvian with heavy blows in the first round. Fedotovs tactics were to draw the Kronk boxer into a brawl, often swinging wild hay-maker punches.

Lee remained composed and measured throughout the fight using his long effective right lead to tame and keep his opponent at bay. Lee demonstrated his boxing skills and maturity to comfortably coast each round to a points victory. The Kronk star unleashed a stinging left hand to floor Fedotovs in the last round.

The Irish southpaw commented after the fight: ' I'm really delighted to win tonight, this was my 19th fight in my career and I see the victory as another building block in moving forward in my career and obtaining experience.

'It was a real honour to be on the undercard of a World Heavyweight title fight in a sold out 60,000 capacity venue here in Germany.'

This was Lee's 2nd outing this year and he is very keen to get back into the ring over the summer months to further his goal of making his mark in the sport.

He continued: 'I hope to get a fight in July or August in the States and keep myself busy, but tonight I am going to relish and enjoy the win and feeling of success.'
