Fionnuala Britton to bolster Ireland's marathon challenge at the European Championships in Zurich

Double European cross country champion Fionnuala Britton will compete in the European Marathon Cup at the European Championships in Zurich later this month.

The Marathon Cup is a team competition, with results based on the national team’s three fastest finishers.

Britton’s marathon debut will come on 16 August, four days after she contests the 10,000m.

There have been a number of changes to the women’s team, with Nicola Duncan withdrawing due to injury and Maria McCambridge choosing not to skip the competition as she focuses on her build-up to the marathon at Rio 2016.

Barbara Sanchez will replace McCambridge on the team Sarah Mulligan has also been drafrted on to the team.
