Waterford’s Thomas Barr beat reigning World 400m hurdles champion Jehue Gordon of Trinidad at the Morton Games in Santry,setting a new  stadium record of 48.94.

Gordon crossed the line in 49.48 with Mahau Suguimati  of Brazil third in 49.94.

At the same meet Donegal’s Mark English set a stadium record of 1.45.30 when winning the 800m in convincing style from Martin Ryan of USA in 1.45.79 and Ryan Gregson of Australia  was third in 1.47.26.

Elsewhere Kelly Proper ran 23.16 in the 200m in Rhede in Germany tonight.

This time moves her to 2nd on Irish all-time list and is inside that all important European Track and Field Championships Standard of 23.35.
