Amy Foster equalled the Irish 100 metre national record as she achieved the qualification time for the European Championships in Zurich in August.

Competing at the Sprint Elite meeting in Florida.on Saturday, the City of Lisburn athlete equalled the 100m record of 11.40 seconds, held by Ailis McSweeney, as she finished third in the final.

Foster had already achieved the World Indoor 60m qualification standard but decided not to compete in order to focus on qualifying for the European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

The Ireland team for Zurich will be decided after the national championships in July.
