Athletics Ireland have named a five strong team for next month’s World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland.

National 800m indoor record holder Mark English, who missed last week’s national championships through injury, is included in the 800m with Rose Ann Galligan and Ciara Everard set to compete in the women’s equivalent.

Waterford's David Mc Carthy will run in both the men’s 1500m and 3000m while Clare Tarplee will contest the women’s 1500m.

Amy Foster who qualified for the women’s 60m has declined selection to concentrate her efforts on the outdoor season.
