Fionnuala Britton eases to victory at Lotto Cross Cup in Antwerp

Fionnuala Britton secured pre-selection for the European Cross Country championships with an impressive win at the Lotto Cross Cup in Antwerp in Belgium this afternoon.

Britton eased to victory in a time of 15.40 and the double-European champion can now set her sights on the 2013 European championships in Belgrade in December.

Ireland's Sara Treacy came fourth in a time of 16.23, while Ann Marie Larkin and Laura Crowe came seventh and eighth with times of 16.30 and 1632 respectively.

The top eight positions all secured pre-selection.

In the Men's race, David McCarthy confirmed pre-selection for Belgrade with a fourth place finish.

The men’s race was won by Alex Kibet of Kenya in a time of 27.52. McCarthy finished in a time of 28.26.

Mark Hanrahan placed 10th in a time of 29.04, while John Coughlan was 19th in 29.54 and Darren McBrearty was 22nd in a time of 30.07.
