Sarah Lavin broke her personal best and the national junior record to take silver in Italy

Ireland's Sarah Lavin landed the silver medal in the Women's 100m Hurdles, setting a new national junior record of 13.34 seconds, at the European Athletics Junior Championships in Rieti, Italy.

The 19-year-old Emerald AC sprinter has been in sparkling form this season after posting her previous best 13.36 in Cork earlier in the year.

Marcus Lawler from St Laurence O'Toole AC finished fourth in the final of the Men's 200m after posting an impressive 20.88 in qualifying.

In the Men's 1500m final, Sean Tobin from Clonmel AC set a new personal best of 3.45.73 to finish fourth, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal by less than half a second. Letterkenny AC's Ruairi Finnegan finished seventh in 3.46.80.

In the Women's 800m final, Aislinn Crossey (Newry AC) narrowly missed out on a bronze medal finishing fourth in a new PB of 2.03.93, nearly three seconds faster than her previous best, set only last month.

Ferrybank AC's Ben Kiely has qualified for tomorrow's final of the Men's 400m Hurdles afterfinishing third in the first semi-final in a PB time of 51.65.
