Fionnuala Britton has decided not to run in the SPAR Great Ireland race

Fionnuala Britton has withdrawn from the SPAR Great Ireland Run on Sunday due to fatigue following a long, cross-country and indoor season.

After consultations with her coach, the double European Cross County champion decided the 10km race could adversely affect her preparations for the forthcoming track season and has decided not to compete.

Defending champion Gemma Steel of Great Britain will still face a very stiff challenge from Ireland’s European Championships gold-medal team members, Linda Byrne, Ava Hutchinson and Lizzie Lee.

*The race is live on RTÉ Two at 12.55pm on Sunday.
